Originally written in 1983, about a person I was in relationship with ... and the song (so I've been told) sounds like The Cars. I wasn't really trying to do that! LOL Anyway, it went into development and was 1st recorded at High Fidelity Studios in Wichita, KS ... I remember them having a mellotron there ... and they put the explosion in there, and the piano player was fantastic, and I just had to sing & play acoustic. The band did all the rest.
But even though the song had a resolution, much later I felt it needed to be "re-done" or at least modified. The ending is more "prog-rock" and less 70's Hippie-Feely-Good and less dated. So there's a lot of great keyboard and a lot of great guitar shredding. Thus: The RC JAM!
One reviewer commented that the keyboards reminds him of Iron Butterfly ... I'll take that as a compliment! Personally, I thought it sounded a little like Ray Manzarek ( I did listen to The Doors when younger).
The feel of the song NOW is that the "Rebellious Child" is still at it ... if the truth be known.
